watermelon margarita

If you’re anything like me the idea of fresh fruit and tequila make you very excited. I love margaritas they are my favorite cocktail; I think the best part about margaritas is realizing how easy they are to actually make. Over the weekend I had the pleasure of going to Ocean City, Maryland for some much needed relaxation. Being at the beach put me in such a great and carefree mood; I felt rejuvenated and refreshed the entire time. Coming down from my beach high hasn’t been easy but having a drink like this definitely helps. The watermelon has a crisp and refreshing taste which in my opinion makes this one of the best homemade margaritas I have ever had.

I decided to use my bullet blender to juice the watermelon. I used about two cups of watermelon chunks. After blending I was left with quite a bit of pulp so I strained the juice to get rid of the access pulp. I think the best thing about this recipe is that you know exactly what you are putting into your body. With most cocktail mixes there are a lot of ingredients on the label that you can’t even begin to announce but with this you know exactly what you are getting.

I rimmed my glasses with sugar and added lime zest for a bit of extra flavor. The agave helps with the sweetness but if you feel the watermelon is sweet enough be sure to leave it out. I think you will be more than pleased with this recipe.
