Good morning guys! I’ve got a few new subscribers over the last two weeks and I just wanted to say HEY and thanks for joining this crazy food train. I’m just recently getting back into the food blogging world after a pretty long hiatus due to life and other daily responsibilities. I’m brining you a new recipe that I like to think of as the adult sloppy joe but it’s totally safe for kids in fact my step son LOVED it and asked for seconds 🙂 There’s a ton of flavor in this recipe and did I mention BACON?! Yes bacon is also making a delicious debut in this recipe and you won’t be disappointed.

Ingredients
- ½ cup Chopped Onion
- 2 Garlic Cloves Minced
- 16 oz Ground Italian Sausage
- 1 tbsp Cooking Oil
- 4 Strips of Bacon (chopped while raw)
- 1 ¼ tsp Italian Seasoning
- ½ tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
- ½ tsp Basil
- 15 oz can Crushed Tomato
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
- ¼ cup + 2 tbsp Red Cooking Wine (or dry red wine)
- ½ tbsp Sugar
- Salt & Pepper to Taste
- 1 tbsp Worcester
- 8 Slices Garlic Texas Toast
- 4 Slices Provolone Cheese
Instructions
- In a preheated skillet add chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add minced garlic and sauté until it becomes fragrant.
- Add ground Italian sausage and cook until done. Remove from pan and return pan to heat and add cooking oil.
- Add chopped raw bacon to pan and begin cooking. Add all seasonings (Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and basil.
- Next add crushed tomato and make sure everything is well combined.
- Add cooked ground Italian sausage back to the pan.
- Add tomato paste, red cooking wine, sugar, salt, pepper, and Worcester to the sauce. and stir until completely combined.
- Reduce heat to low and allow sauce to simmer and reduce.
