Good morning! I know I know its Monday and I can tell the “Monday blues” has already started to kick in. I had a pretty great weekend; on Saturday I was fortunate enough to attend a Pig & Swig event here in Baltimore city at Power Plant Live! and today my husband was off from work so we got to spend a much needed day together. In the morning we grabbed brunch, ran a few errands, and then attended a Christmas party with my sister for her job. We had a great time–the food was amazing. There was also an open bar which can never be a bad thing.
Speaking of bar lets get to the real reason I have dragged you all here with me today. I have what I think is the best drink for you to cure any situation. My Candy Apple Margarita! TRUST me this drink definitely lives up to its name and tastes just like a candy apple. My husband LOVES this drink; he requested at least 3-4 times once I finished developing the recipe. The best part is that it’s super easy to make and uses few ingredients. If you make this drink for your friends you will get 10 points for creativity.
In case you didn’t know I’ve been working with an AMAZING tequila company out in Arizona called 3 Amigos. They are family owned and operated which I think is really nice. The quality of their tequila is top notch. They have a few great ones for you to choose from Blanco which is made from 100% ripe blue agave from the Highlands of Jalisco, Reposado which rests for 11 months in White American Charred Oak, Anejo is aged for 2 years in White American Charred Oak, Organic which is one of the world’s first tequilas to achieve this distinction, Extra Anejo aged for 8 years in White American Charred Oak, and last but not least Ramonas Reserve made with their 2 year anejo, agave nectar and spices. If you want to learn more about this company please feel free to visit their website! You can also find their tequila at your local Total Wine & More store.
Now lets get to this recipe! First you want to chop or slice 1 apple. We are going to use the apples in our simple syrup. Add your apples to a sauce pan with equal parts water and sugar.
Once the candy is smashed rim your glass with agave or corn syrup and press the rim of the glass into the smashed candy. Next add your ice to a shaker along with your 3 Amigos Tequila, orange liqueur, lime, and simple syrup. You could probably also get away with apple juice or apple sauce if you are seeking texture in you drink.
- 2 oz 3 Amigos Tequila
- 1 oz Orange Liqueur
- 1 oz Lime Juice
- 2 oz Apple Simple Syrup
- Crushed Red Hard Candy
- Agave Syrup
- Chop or slice one apple and set aside.
- In a medium sauce pan add apples with equal parts water and sugar.
- Heat mixture and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Once simple syrup is complete transfer entire mixture to a blender and blend until fine.
- Next add red hard candy to a zip top bag and crush.
- Rim the glass with agave syrup and dip the rim into the crushed candy. Add ice to the glass and set aside.
- In a shaker add ice, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and apple simple syrup. Shake until shaker becomes icy to the touch.
- Pour over ice and Enjoy!
